What is happening in Hungary?

forget the past and Kovi(i never liked his soft movies) as the future is the 21 Sextury and their models who do anal and dp from the first day!

This time I read all three pages and with Gepont - despite Steve declining chris view - I have to say that chris is absolutely right: 21S sells wheter you like it or not. And most girls dont even want to become stars anymore, just shoot an amount x of scenes, earn good money and move on. And nothing is wrong with that - just the times changed!
And while there might be no new Magyar porn superstar, the biz is still makeing good money, shooting lots of scenes for the internet releasing them later on dvd. No story lines for sure, and also no big Private film re-makes, but Hundreds of short gonzo features with Hundreds of new Magyar and foreign girls.
Also, Johnny_Walker, Russian and Ukrainian girls working on Budapest porn sets for lower fees, are nothing new. That´s just the normal way it works - and right so as long as they get payed still good money. But with the current economic crisis in Hungary fees will dwindle anyway and even more local girls will flock in. Thus who really wants to save much on fees will move further to Ukraine I guess.
Does this threaten Budapest as a European Porn Capital?
At the moment it doesnt look like. But time will tell.

It seems that for different reasons both the Czech and Hungarian porn industries are in trouble or in the doldrums. These countries were vying for top spot as porn maker in Europe with close rivalry; so if both are below par, which country is not top porn producer in Europe ? Which city is top porn-making city ? Not Budapest, not Prague ?

I think they still are, by volume (Maybe Ibiza or Portugal match them as locations in the summer months). Rocco, Christoph Clark, Gianfranco and DDF are still live in BP, Woodman has Hungarian girlfriend and they are all shoot in BP or Prague if they're not on an exotic location. Not mention Raul and the 21st Sextury, the sheer volume they shoot on a week is more than any porn fan could follow. The reason you might think there are no new stars is because so many girls are working and they stay for shorter period. In the end they probably shoot the same amount of scenes as Michelle Wild did during her career, only in half of her time or less.
One thing is certain though, more and more foreign girls shooting in these cities, from Romania, Ukraine, Russia, etc. The studios, the infrastructure is there, purpose built (hence overused) villas, crew, equipment to hire, etc. Who wants the trouble in St. Petersburg or in Kiev with the local boys? They cost more than the girls they "protect". And this latter one won't change anytime soon so I think still Budapest and Prague will be the place to be for a while, even for other E-European girls.

I just checked AVN charts, half of the Top 10 been shot in Prague or Budapest and it's America's very own home field.

In regards to your photography Gepont, in my opinion your stuff was always top notch. Gergo, Szimpi and yourself always produced photographs of the highest quality, with interesting angles and interesting ideas.

I have photoshoots from Vic's old site where I received your photo's as "behind the scenes" photos to add if I needed. I actually made a comment on the very day that I received them that kinda went along the lines of "how come the BTS images are all crystal clear and exceptional quality, whereas the actual photographs from the shoot photographer are blurry and fuzzy".

I don't know how you always managed to get very high quality photographs all the time (and this can be seen by looking at any shoot on machomedia) but you have my utmost respect. You, and the other guys at machomedia will be most defintely missed.

Well, it wasn't overnight. Gergo and kontentking started MM with some friends, I joined later. We weren't pro photographers, just tried to gather news from the Hungarian Porn Scene. Gergo claims he bought his first digital camera (and carried everywhere with him) to catch ALS Scan shooting those famous Budapest public nudity scenes. We went to erotic festivals, I used to shoot nightclubs and sometimes there were erotic shows in those clubs. Gradually we got more and more contacts and suddenly we realized from feedbacks that most of the industry is our reader, we got more photos from girls like Alma (Ginger Jones) and Dori (Dorothy Black) and others. And eventually we were invited to film shoots by Kovi and Fokusz and others to shoot backstage. Also MM ended up in mainstream media as references and sources when for example we broke the news that the first girl in the Valo Vilag (The Real World, Big Brother style show) was Pandora, a former porn girl, etc.
And then eventually we got paid assigments, the way was similar to what Steve said above, that our photos sometimes were better than the "official" photographers'. When I've moved to London 3 years ago, I went to Photography College and thanks to some Hungarian models I'd met a producer... Gergo, similarly, gained more and more contacts, went to shoots first for free just to shoot BTS for MM and his photos were good enough for Ninn, Viv and Woodman to use them as extras and ultimately he started working as well.
When I told my mates at College that I'm working in porn, there was about twenty volunteers to carry my bags or anything But honestly, it's not that fascinating after a few shoots, it's hard work the photographers too and we don't get any benefits like free blowjobs (or no too often ) and as I said many of the models are umm... rather simple, they're not a great company if you want to talk about anything else than the very obvious. There are some exceptions though, I know some sweet, intelligent girls and cool guys in the biz and eventually it's more fun to work there than sitting in an office or something. We wouldn't be there otherwise.

Well, lets say, I find myself now in the middle of my trip to something like you did.
I shot last year in Prague Erotic fair, well unfortunately not had new camera already, so the pictures was so so. But I enjoyed it a lot.
But especially in Prague there is a high concetration of good photographers shooting similar stuff, so its then even harder to manage to
something more. To have a good luck is needed as always.
