ok, so i try to be short: firstly i think that altering your body is a signal of trying to correspond to your self-image. meaning that like a certain kind of dresscode in daily life (uniforms, working clothes) it signals how you see yourself. its a signal of who you are and what is your competence. since porn performers rarely are dressed, changing your body to the image you have of your own profession is the only way. secondly it might also be a kind of drawing a borderline between of what you do and who you are - meaning its a commitment that you do a service and correspond to the viewers demands whatever you think they are (big boobs, big lips, big ass etc).

The ones who stayed "all-natural" (Carla Cox, Dido Angel, Lexi Belle etc.) ended up having a longer career than the ones who took the surgery route.
