It's a part of the fun and game (perhaps not for everyone). If there's a a drought of the content, it's better than nothing. People can speculate and fantasize about possibilities and then check for site updates.
If it brings more subscribers to the paid sites, or at least bump the pageviews, mission is accomplished.
