Guys, I am really surprised about the debate about piracy still goes on. It seems that nobody has a clue why it will never disappear, at least in the medium term.
Well, the truth is more shocking that LP, MG or Tubes. It goes even beyond the fall of Megaupload (replaced by Mega) and KAT (replaced by the rebirth of the Pirate Bay as discussed in many forums). Follow the money and you will see who benefits from the piracy the most.... are you ready?... The ones that benefit the most are the US and the European governments. Whooooooos. Yes, as crude as it sounds.
The process is a little bit more complex, not so easy to spot, but easy to understand. Think about how much money all the creative industries pay in taxes. Please, don't stop just in porn and include Hollywood, the music industry and literature industry too. Now think about how much money pay in taxes the Telecommunications companies. The core of the telecom business revenue comes from the sale of broadband, 50 Mb - 200 Mb ADSL. Do you really think that the people buy such a fast connection to read the emails and the online newspapers. Come on! You have to be very naive to think that. People buy that connection to download multimedia and to watch streaming online. So, please, stop the debate. There is no hope to be even remotely close to stop piracy unless there is a substantial change in the business model of those paying the big taxes to the government.
Ouch! It hurts... Nobody likes listening the truth.
