Hi noproblemo,

trying to attach a file brings up this error message:
Sorry, but the maximum filesize for all Attachments is reached. Please contact the Board Administrator if you have questions.

is there enough space avialable on the harddisks to increase the relevant parameter?

I could increase the relevant value, but it has be clear that enough disk space is available ...

The problem is bandwidth, of course. And how much bandwidth we're willing to devote to the forum. In any case, use free image hosts that do not ban pron as much as you can.

No, it´s not a bandwidth issue.
Attachment Quota of 1GB has exceeded by an actual filesize of 1.01745GB.
How large is the diskspace on the webserver?
1GB sounds like nothing in todays harddisk world with notebook size now even 500GB in 2.5" formats available.

Yeah if the total size for all attachements on the board is just 1GB, it's clearly nothing.

You can easily multiply by 10 or 100. Lots of hosts like OVH or LeaseWeb propose 250GB of HDD.

 People shut me up on my own forum too.

I mean, it's a bandwidth issue related to how much traffic we're willing to wast..., I mean, use for the forum since site and forum are both hosted on the same computer.

bad week for Italy, right 8)

Is there a linear function and correlation between total attachment filesize and bandwidth consumed per month?
If so, please write it down here ...

In other word words:
Filesize increased by factor two increases bandwidth used by factor two as well.
Doubt that ...

The only Italian player I care about is Alessandro Gamberini, the rest they can screw themselves. And you can add Mutu to that :).

Stem, I'm not stating that as an opinion :), I'm saying that as the one who's making a living out of the Eurobabeindex. It's not the minimum attachment quota per se. It's the fact that LOTS of pictures are posted here, some are exclusives (thanks to Gapelover, Tigris, Giorgio, Dennis, etc.). And a few times the site, I mean the real site, has been brought to a crawl by hotlinking. Anyway, what I said is "let Nop handle that", I'm sure there's some room left.

The point here is how much bandwidth we're willing to save for the forum AT ALL, it's a matter of priorities, not of technical details about traffic.

The best option, that we have been discussing, is to move the forum to its own server, which is not free but it's something that I'd like to do anyway.

OK I increased the maximum size for all attachments to 2.4 Gb
BTW, Gapelover has a unlimited space just for himself and is using 2.8 Gb
Indeed we have no problem of disk size. However we have to be careful
about bandwith and backup space too.

Is the Back-up is on the same space ?

It's not that, it's a professional set-up. We're talking about logical disk space allowed by our deal.
Anyone can check out the specs by visiting Leaseweb's site.
