I seen a Doctor at Mason City, Iowa's Mercy Hospital Cancer Center today and may have some good news to report. Previously, I was told by my family doctor here in my hometown, that I may have 6 months to live, if lucky. That there was significant growth to the Lung Cancer Tumor in my right lung. Well, my family doctor was looking at a Chest X-Ray and NOT a CT Scan, when she came to that conclusion. The CT Scan I had taken exactly a week ago shows spots of black in it and NOT one solid color, which means the black spots was oxygen in my lung, whereas one solid color would show a MASS or Tumor.
Right now, there is too much scar tissue and fluid left by the Radiation and Chemo Treatments I went through this past Spring 2010, in and on my right lung to be able to see, if there is even a Cancer Tumor left inside my Right Lung.
I'm now on massive dosages of Antibiotics and Steroids to get rid of the scar tissue left by the Radiation and Chemo, so that my current Cancer Doctor can see into my Right Lung to see, if there is any Tumor left. If so, I'll have to go through another Lung Biopsy to see, if it's still the Lung Cancer I was being treated for.
So, in conclusion, I may be around for a few more years. Also learned that I'm at Stage 3 NOT Stage 4. Stage 4 is where the Cancer has spread outside of the Chest Cavity, where it goes into the skeleton of your body such as the bones, liver, and other organs in the body. Stage 3 means the Cancer is still confined to the Chest Cavity and has NOT spread anywhere else as yet.
I'm just glad I'm getting more straight answers as to how really bad my Lung Cancer really is, than what I was being given from the U.S. Government's Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. It also only goes to prove, that I'm a fighter, when it comes to living a longer life here on Earth and with all of my friends here on EBI.
It also goes to prove, that seeking another doctor's Opinion isn't such a bad idea, either. I'm NOT done doing that, either. I'm also plan on seeing the Cancer Doctors at the Famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I've been told, if the Doctors at the Famous Mayo Clinic can't help you, then there is nobody that can help you.
