A mainstream porn video had a woman who was high on pot tripping and stumbling over things, and it's my belief that the U.S. porn industry is going to have to go drug-free. If nothing else, her antics could have hurt the actor the way she was moving.
It's true that porn and drugs go hand in hand. U.S. pornstars typically use porn to pay for their lifestyles.
A few pornstars have gotten out of the industry because of the drugs.
Pornstars get messed up by them over time. It's one of the main reasons porn starlets drop out. They hurt themselves and have to quit.
Besides not wanting someone to get harmed, that's not good for other reasons.
U.S. states consider it rape if a woman is intoxicated. (Although the reverse is not true. Makes no sense, but that's the U.S.) It hasn't happened yet, but it's only a matter of time before a female pornstar will claim rape on the set, despite the irrationality of that claim, such as having a contract and having signed the paperwork beforehand. A dishonest District Attorney will prosecute the case in the hopes of higher office. It will be international news because the U.S. media can't resist any sex-related story, no matter how stupid.
A stoned or drunk or otherwise intoxicated woman on the set is a major liability. Too easy to do something stupid and hurt herself or others on the set. Even simple things like tripping over a chair or steps can harm or kill somebody when they are loaded.
A drunk or stoned person doesn't make good decisions. Alcohol can mess up the mind for a day, pot for a couple of weeks. People in the porn industry admittedly tend to be flakes, but what happens when a pornstar is stoned, decides it'll be fun to have sex unprotected with a group, picks up herpes or something else, then spreads it to a dozen pornstars before the next test?
That's not even a hypothetical. It's happened several times. People make dumb decisions when they are on something, be it Jack Daniels or weed.
Too many drugs are not what the user thought they were. How many OD or otherwise die from using drugs? The usual progression is for a new drug to show up, people in the porn industry try it out, there is a body count, then the drug is made illegal. It's bad for the actresses/actors, and it's bad for business.
No porn is worth somebody's life.
Drug testing should be done before each shoot. Someone's drunk or stoned, they don't do the shoot. After an addict gets turned down for work for a month or two, it might even get their attention that they've got a problem with drugs. Some good PR, plus you might be saving somebody's life.
