Question: does Sbando's avatar picture (which I assume is a photo of Sbando) look like actor Errol Flynn?

By the way, I looked the guy up and apparently he used to have a big career in rock music even before the 80's! I know him for In The Air Tonight and his legendary Miami Vice guest spots, but it seems it was huge in the 70's too.

Yeah he was in genesis who my dad played all the time growing up. He spent his early career aping peter gabriel who he replace in the band but was never as talented. Phil always looks bad tempered. X

Well actually Phil used to play the drums for Genesis long before stepping
out of his seat to replace Gabriel as lead singer...in wich, considering
how difficoult was to replace someone like Gabriel, i think he made quite a good job.
He pulled out at least 2 great Genesis's albums like "Duke" and "Mama".

On top of this he was also a very talented drummer...
Maybe not strictly a technical virtuoso but very musical and creative
in his approach to drum playing .

This is the classic "drum only" song he play live along with his
usual backup drummer Chester Thompson (of F.Zappa's Mothers fame)
and in this version also with the great latin percussionist Luis Conte

Enjoy !!!

PS. If it wasn't clear i was a Genesis and also Phil's fan back then

Interestingly Phill Collins claimed in the 80's that he had inadvertnly introduced the word Wanker to America.

He was on the set of Mami Vice and got in an argument and called the other guy a wanker none of the crew understood the word when he used it. The director thought that they could use it in programe because the American censor wouldn't know what it ment either.

So Phill Collins is responsible for lowereing the standard of English in America.

After a few COUGHdecadesCOUGH I've discovered that Phil sings in For Absent Friends. Beautiful vocals, in Harlequin too as a backup to Peter.

Phil was great also as a support vocalist.

I'm quite sure he did another song as the lead for Genesis while Peter was still in but honestly i don't remember the title...
