Child porn and real rape porn is already illegal! He wants to implement a nationwide adult content filter that you must write into your ISP to opt-out of (and no doubt end up on some kind of government "deviant" list).

And, you're not going to find any of that real abusive shit on regular internet search engines. He wants to ban porn that "simulates rape" or is "aggressive" against women. Who defines that? Does gaping count? What about DP? Maybe EBI? Or is it just the DAP thread that will be illegal? There are backers of this law who for them nearly every single type of pornography is simulated rape because the only women that do porn must be "coerced"! Which, leaves, softcore porn as the only thing they can't ban (also because the two main newspapers that back this shitty right-wing government feature lots of topless girls on a regular basis)

You guys really didn't think it through. This law has nothing to do with protecting children. If he wanted to protect children he should put more money in the child protection services and anti-pedophile police (both have had massive budget cuts) than force every single internet user into a government controlled filter. And you know what's next? YouTube videos, filesharing sites, maybe some news websites, and it goes on and on.

As to the funding issue this is a Conservative government they always announce cuts because it plays well to the pensioners/well off who actually vote Conservative.

If you're worried about your kids watching porn then buy or download free filters for your computers and devices at home. I don't have kids and I don't need a government filter forcing me to opt-in everytime I change ISP. It's not the government's job to make the internet safe for kids; that's the parents job! Also, who defines what is "bad" porn here? Will there be some high council of morally sanctimonious pervs that will watch porn all day and decide what's legal and what isn't? I'm pretty sure most of the porn that is advertised here (like Sineplex, Woodmancasting, Analteenangles, 21st Century) falls under the broad definition of "simulated extreme sex."

The problem of course, is how broad that definition is. What about consensual BDSM sex where one participant is tied and gagged? Does this count as "staged rape"? What about abduction fantasy? Both of those scenarios involve all parties consenting in reality but perhaps depicted otherwise on screen. It's a totally legitimate sexual lifestyle, but does this suddenly become evil rape porn and all these consenting adults are now outlawed rape purveyors?

I totally agree. Why should we all suffer for someone else's lifestyle choice? I chose not to have kids, now I have to phone up my ISP and beg them to let me see porn? It should be the exact opposite. Don't want your kids watching porn? YOU phone your ISP and tell them to put the filters ON.

The bigger problem is, of course, when the infrastructure and the software is in place in the ISPs to filter, next thing you know it's "pirate content"....after that it's wikileaks or basically any site they don't like, and boom, we're living in China.
