I hate to be cynical, but even if i were to go out and buy every available Angelina Crow DVD on the market and joined every site that featured her original content, she wouldn't see one red cent of it. Yes, i understand that the producers who paid her would realize a profit, which could then potentially be reinvested in new material and hopefully it might even feature Angie. I'm no businessman, but this is how the model is supposed to work, i guess. But even if every EBI member pledged in good faith to spend $100 or $1000 in this way, it's not gonna be enough to "save" the Budapest porn scene. As is well understood, the old model has been irredeemably subverted by the easy availability of that same content (but generally of much poorer quality) for free on the net. However well-intended, no amount of moral cajoling is going to prevent or dissuade numerous cheapskate pervs from getting their stuff that way. Most of these peeps are not porn "connoisseurs" as some of us here fancy ourselves to be; we can assuage our guilty consciences by forking up the cash, but it's only a drop in the bucket. Unless there are major changes in technology, internet law or human nature, the business of porn (as well as music & all content related industries) will of necessity adapt itself to this reality. How all this will play out, i dont know... But since i cant imagine the demand for porn getting anything but stronger, producers will find a way to make money and pay performers.

(BTW if DAP's remarks are directed at me personally, i resent the assumption that i dont pay my fair share. Sure, i've watched plenty of "free" stuff.. I've also paid for plenty of content. However well intended, please dont presume to lecture me on how to spend my precious few porn dollars. I'm just a fan and a consumer, not a financier or charity.)

Priapos, you're so right with your last post. The film and music industry must badly find a way to avoid the download and/or streaming of their products for free. It's not only a problem for the porn industry. If they didn't find a solution for this, big blockbuster films will not be done anymore because they didn't refinance themselves. Same with high quality porn. In the end you only will get cheap amateurish shit with second class models, because nobody can pay good rates anymore. And the assholes who are responsible for that, because they want all for free didn't care. The dorks are the porn industry and real porn lovers!

Yes Camaban, i think you're onto something crucial here: the whole question of quality. There is the difference in technical quality first of all. Nobody who appreciates DVD and now HD wants to watch some crummy mpeg download, free or not. But even more important is the quality of the performers and the production. Clearly high budget productions are currently almost out of the question in Europe and probably likewise in LA. That's ok to a certain extent: i dont need to watch my favorite eurobabes do their thing on some beach in Mauritius, as much as they might enjoy the travel and as pleasant as it looks as a background. The real issue is just getting the top girls performing at their best and nurturing fresh talent, a la Ch. Clark and others.

And man there's a lot of crappy material with faceless so-called talent out there on the net these days, mostly from Russia (where the girls come cheap) and the States (where every 18 year old seems to think it's somehow a glamorous career and easy money). I do not want to go too far from Angelina Crow who represents THE topic of this discussion. I only say that porn will grow for the happiness of viewers and producers but the last will have to learn a better way to distribute their prducts. DVD and Net are only one part of the biz.
The problem is that too many are not prepared/supported for this (lack of formation, greedy attitude, lazyness, willingness only to make easy money, lack of connections, geek-attitude, lack of money, no external financing etc...) then we will have many small producers who will work on very low margins and very few able to deal with big bucks.
But I do not want to be misunderstood... some guys are still doing a fine job and are very professional. And for producers, dealing with talented girls (see also agents) make the difference. So, to be short, actresses like Angelina (even when they become un-understandable ) make the difference... in the set and even outside. You're totally right, Angelina. But what can we do against it, that many people get their porn for free (but - like priapos said - in a quality that didn't satsify me; I want my porn shot in HD in really good quality, so that it looks good on my 16:9 TV, therefore I pay for the DVDs I want)?

In my opinion it's up to the porn industry. Maybe they must chase the people who set up porn for free on sites like rapidshare. And then the justice must impose very hard penalties, maybe that would act as a deterrent?
