On a point I made earlier in the thread about 3D not adding anything to a film, I now have to admit to seeing a film where I think the 3D did actually make it a better film. Unfortunately it was so slow as to be a struggle to get through. Quite why the critics are all raving about how good it is is lost on me and judging by other peoples comments as we were leaving lost on the rest of the audience as well.

The film in question is "Cave of Forgotten Dreams " by Werner Herzog which is a documentary that should have been edited down to 60 min but at 90 min is just far too long.

However the 3D shows you the cave art in a way that lets you to see how the art work is drawn around the shape of the rock so that it actually look like a 3D animal (ie French cavemen beat Hollywood to 3D by 32,000 years). I've seen 2d photos of this art work before and they really make the art look crude and badly drawn.
