Great scene, heartwarming and tragic at the same time.

My main interest is dance music and at the moment some great music is being produced and the Minimal craze seems on the wane.

British indie seems stuck on formulas (The Streets and their clones, Coldplay and their clones, Arctic Monkey and their 7000 clones).

American indie rock is much more sincere, Kings Of Leon and Band Of Horses have both made amazing albums.

soft pop? More like majestic pop that no one else makes with the same sense of melody. You are just a set in your ways rocker! No seriously each to their own but doom goth is just horrid!

I'm not a huge fan of the Flaming Lips..i've only seen them on TV live and in vidz. But that guys been doing his own thing for years now, and it's very original and musically sophisticated. And damn funny!

Goth to me means primarily Bauhaus & a few other bands from the 80's. What Goth music and Goth subculture have become is kind of pathetic. I mean seriously it's for high school kids..

I mostly listen to dance music too, but I'm not up to date to the latest trends anymore. And I'm no dance music dogmatist either...

Here are some records I listened to very often in the last weeks: Justice - Cross (still great), Boys Noize - Oi Oi Oi, Daft Punk - Alive 2007, LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver, Jarvis Cocker - Jarvis (cunts are definitely still running the world...), Brian Wilson - That Lucky Old Sun (Brian's back!), Ladytron - Velocifero, J Dilla - Donuts (R.I.P. Jay Dee), 7L & Esoteric Present - Esoteric vs. Japan, Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx (classic Wu-Tang!), Phil Spector's Back To Mono box set, Dmitri Shostakovich - The Jazz Album (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (the only PF album I like), The Sonics - The Jerden Years 1966-69 (Psycho!!!).

Currently I'm listening to Gui Boratto's Addicted Vol. 2 mix, which I finally bought yesterday. It's simply amazing!

"All My Friends" is a fantastic song. Franz Ferdinand's version of "All My Friends" (which can be found on the single) is great too. One of my favorite songs of 2007.

I envy you so much. I still have to see him performing live yet. :(

The Sonics - The Jerden Years 1966-69

This one comes straight from James Murphy, right? John Cale's version of "All my friends" is also great.

In all honesty, I don't like electro house much but I'm still very fond of Soulwax/2ManyDJs.

Great dance album released in the past few weeks and that I'd wholeheartedly suggest are Sasha's Involv2ver and Danny Howells' Renaissance The Mix Album.

Tracks are too many to mention. Through Google one can find loads of free mixes.
I strongly suggest Nick Warren's Cosmic Mix, Jody Wisternoff's latest Way Out There's (from hybridized.org) and Aeroplane's RA Podcast, if you can find it.

I'm a huge fan of all kind of Metal and Hardrock since more than 25 years now. In the last few years I'm especially into Progressive (Dream Theater, Queensryche). John Petrucci is something like a god for me.

I also like classic music very much. Beethoven's 5th and 9th symphony are outstanding, also a lot from Verdi and Puccini and Dvorak's Symphony "From The New World".

Well, I'm very glad (and actually a bit amazed) he's still alive.

Re: Mike Love

Mark E. Smith's quote who refers to him as "the worm in the bacon of BB" says it best. :)

Hahaha, good call! :D

"The Sonics, The Sonics, The Sonics, The Sonics"

It seems I'm losing my edge. ;) (Well, actually it was just a coincedence...)

Sbando, thanks for your recommendations. I will be on the look-out for them.
