People are second-guessing me all the time, like I owe them something, and in the forum posters hate the same things I created the site for (Woodman, soft models and the list goes on).
Yeh, I know exactly what you mean. People have no respect no more these days and they take everything for granted. Because they think we owe it to them. And of course it has to be for free. Man, do I hate these sort of people.......
And because I hate this sort of people and their attitude, I defend the ways of registration as they are now: People have to apply and (at least) give the idea that they also are willing to give something! Other than that no account.
Period. Of course, some of those I deny then ask either you, Frigo or nop (and if they are lucky, one of the fore mentioned admins creates them an account) - but even this will not help them users much once they decide to be read only users. 4 weeks at last after registration and zero postings the account goes.
Second guessing? Yeh, that´s generally bad. Happens to me often too. Guess that has a lot to do with the fact that most of us don´t know each other in real life. But one thing is for sure: We should - no matter what - stand together. Let nobody be able to get between us. Which means: We have to trust the instincts of each other. Once one of us makes a decision (i.e. to ban an user), nobody should even ask about it. If it happens, the user has to contact the admin who took action and this is it.
Forum posters? Well, only some 20% of registered users can be taken serious. If at all any person who spends more time on the net than on fresh air can be taken serious........
Hence I personally do not give too much a shit about them users, their ideas and their likes/dislikes. But, judging from my side, all of us (admins) did listen way too much to every small request, to every demand and to every idea that came from users. We really should be more drastic about editing out what we don´t like. And if users have a problem with that, well, nobody forces them users to stay around.
Remember that Redeye user? He gave up posting, once the site went to "eyes of registered users only" and he stated to me that he was annoyed that now his posts have less hits as before.......
Well, poor person, if you ask me.
