Maybe she was expecting a proposal of marriage. I wasn't there so I can only speculate, but if you aren't talking about what you want, or asking for what you need then you'll never get it.

you just summed up my whole life

and in that same post lies the true recipe for being successful with gorgeous chicks. The thing is, chances are you won't be interested, because most of them are shallow or damaged goods.

:D No no no, on the opposite!!! She really just wanted me as a "good friend". Someone who made her laugh and who told her interesting stories and who took her out for dinner. Meanwhile she kept looking for Mr. Right.

I have told her a few times that I was not too happy about the arrangement. I proposed to do more things together, like a city-trip to Brussels or Paris or London, or a beach walk, or the cinema or the theatre. But she felt these activities would be an infringement of her private life. Things stayed the same, and hence I slowly but steadily lost interest. C'est la vie.

You did the right thing, then, only you waited longer than I would have to do it. No relationship can work unless both parties are getting what they want out of it.

Still, your experience is hardly reason to say no woman wants you. You've tried one out of how many million?

I posted my story to illustrate Euro's point that dating women is far from easy.

Whether there are women who want me, is besides the point.

Understood, but my comment was for Euro's benefit, as well.

Yeah, my feelings exactly. When I go for a walk in my neighbourhood, the pizza delivery boys salute me, the homeless guys say "hello good afternoon", the male shop keepers greet me by raising their arm or by nodding. Sometimes there are chess players who I haven't seen in 20 years who greet me and ask me about my current chess activities. It is male comradery and it is cool. Women are different. The only women I know who are friendly, even at the street level, are the Chinese waitresses working at a nearby Chinese restaurant. Apparently they do not have the defensiveness that the majority of Dutch women have.
